Back to the Future

I'd like to say that my life has changed in amazing ways over the past 2 years of hiatus on the blog, but that would be a lie. The two most noteworthy items of change would be that i have gotten married and bought a house. Although the said husband and I have been in a relationship for 9 years already and have lived together for 6 of those also, so perhaps that's not really so much change afterall. For those of you who don't know me, I live in Australia, just outside of Melbourne on the Surf Coast. I was born and raised on the beach and in turn that has now brought me to a stage in life that makes me rather not spend time on the sand. I do live in a beautiful place in the world though, and i love promoting that any chance i get.

I give away everything i'm thinking by the look on my face. Quite often i catch myself wrinkling up my nose, raising my eyebrow or trying hard not to smile or laugh at inappropriate times, and it makes me wonder how many times a day i offend people this way.

A good friend of mine has recently taught me that sanity is often an illusion, and i've been giving that a lot of thought. At face value i am your average bubbly 26 year old - but everyone has many different facades, and i never forget that. Depending how you know me or where you know me from decides which face of mine you get to see. The best one is my friend face, because that's the real me, and also the one that has the most fun. Ooh - that sounds a bit like multiple personality disorder, which i can assure you it's not. It's just a girl thing.

I hate remembering too late that i'm friends with people from work on my facebook. This happens all the time. For example this morning the girl thing to do was post the age you lost your virginity as your status. Right after our morning briefing an (older) male colleague pulled me to the side and made some smart ass joke about it. Dammit, you're my colleague not my facebook friend!

I work in a Museum, doing commercial development and planning. What depresses me the most about this working environment is that each and every person that walks through our doors is in THAT mood. That mood is the one that means they are in their leisure time. They aren't at work, they aren't running errands, they are here to spend spare time. These people are quite often also on vacation from different states or countries. I spend my days at work daydreaming about how to spend my days off. I'm not lazy, but i hate sitting still and love socialising and doing new things.

So I think that's enough for today... I hope you all enjoy this being back online, I for one can't wait.
