The Mother 3 Experiment

Once upon a time (1995 or so), there was a game for the Super Nintendo called EarthBound.

I LOVED this game. It's different, it's quirky, it has a good story, and it's generally really fun to play. And it had a cult following.

Once my Super Nintendo broke down, I had to get an emulator for the computer and download it.

About 10 years later, they released a sequel called Mother 3. It was only put out in Japan. The sequel is unrelated to the first game, so you don't have to know anything about the first game to enjoy the second. Similar to the Final Fantasy series.

Through the magic of ROMS, I can now play this sequel on my computer. It's pretty old school, but because of my love for EarthBound I just have to try it. I'm actually pretty stoked about it.

I am going to be recapping the adventure through this site. Keep in mind I have never even seen a single frame of this game before, so this will be as new to you fine folks as it is to me. I've already written the first one, and I gotta say I'm enjoying it - remains to be seen if the game will be good, but the recaps will be entertaining!

Because I'm not blessed with a lot of free time (at least outside work, and I can't play this at work... or can I...) I will probably play for 15-20 minutes a night. I'll recap after the fact, I can't guarantee frequency or detail, as that will depend on the quality of the game, but for easy viewing, I will post the links to the recaps in order on the sidebar.

Also, when I post, for the convenience of anyone NOT reading, I'll just put the title on the main page, so as not to take any attention away from anyone else's posts. Click the title of the post and you'll be able to read the whole thing. The posts regarding the game will start with M3 (short for Mother 3).

I will start playing on the weekend, and will continue until I finish the game or get bored.

Hope everyone enjoys!

I played video games before they were cool. If anyone wants to buy me a present you can buy me the shirt that says that.
